SUMMARY: Aim: Parathyroid hormone secretion is mainly influenced by hypocalcaemia, hyperphosphataemia and vitamin D deficiency. However, previous in vitro and in vivo studies showed that endothelin-1 can influence parathyroid hormone secretion. This study was aimed at evaluating this relationship in vivo in uraemic patients. Methods: Parathyroid hormone and endothelin-1 plasma concentrations were measured in 67 haemodialysed patients. AbstractDespite all efforts, still many end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients are dialysed using a central tunnelled catheter (CTC) as vascular access. When the CTC blood flow becomes ineffective, a number of protocols are advised. However, all of them are time- and cost-consuming. The manoeuvre of a non-invasive tunnelled catheter reposition (NTCR) was introduced to restore the CTC function. Prone Position Facilitates Creation of Ulnar-Basilic Arteriovenous Fistula

Background: The distal ulnar-basilic arteriovenous fistula (UBAVF) is a rarely used alternative type of vascular access for haemodialysis. The location of the vein on the back aspect of the forearm forces an extremely uncomfortable external rotation of the upper limb during surgery when the patient is in a supine position.
